Draft in D.C. – April 18
All this week Rams Linebacker Chris Draft will be spending time in the Washington D.C. community, culminating with his acceptance of the J.B. Award for Community Service and a tour of the White House’s West Wing! Catch up with Draft’s D.C. Week right here on The Draft Report!
As Chris Draft wrapped up a busy week in the nation’s capital, he was able to spend Saturday cruising around the city on a segway, taking in all the important and historic sights Washington D.C. has to offer.
Here’s Chris’ take on the end of the week:
| No trip to Washington D.C. is complete without going to visit the servicemen at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We had a chance to let them know that we appreciate all they have done. To our servicemen and servicewomen all over the world, We Salute You! (Pictured: Chris Draft and Co. at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center) | |
| The White House! What a great opportunity. I was able to lead the J.B. Award winners, with the help of some great White House personnel, on a tour of the House of the Obamas. I believe that it is appropriate that the winners of the J.B. Award for Community Service were able to tour the house that has been committed to advocating for more and better community service all across the country. I know the White House technically belongs to the people, but thank you to the Obama family for letting us enjoy your new home. (Pictured: Chris Draft and the J.B. Award winners at the White House) | |
| After visiting Walter Reed and the White House, Daniel Wilcox (the Baltimore Ravens J.B. Award winner) and I got a chance to talk to some student-athletes from H. D. Woodson High School through the NFLPA’s Training Camp for Life program. Daniel and I issued a challenge to students: to lead by example and set your goals high. No trip to D.C. would be complete without a tour of the monuments and the museums, and we did it on segways!!! We rode around D.C. representing the Character Team with our Responsible and Compassion t-shirts. (Pictured: Chris Draft and Keasha Rutledge in front of the D.C. Capitol Building) |
