After the J.B. Awards last night, No. 52 had a big day ahead. This morning he was off to Walter Reed Army Medical Center to visit the troops and attended the NFLPA’s Training Camp for Life in the afternoon. The highlight of the day, however, was Chris Draft leading the J.B. Award winners on a tour of the White House’s West Wing.

The J.B. Awards selected the Washington D.C. Special Olympics as their only fundraiser for the whole year. What a great experience! I had an amazing time hanging out with the Special Olympians. Steelers’ quarterback Ben Rothlesberger and I ran them through a very lengthy quarterback drill. Thank you Stephen Hocker, Executive Director of the D.C. Special Olympics, for all the great work you are doing. To learn more about the Washington D.C. Special Olympics visit http://www.specialolympicsdc.org. | You have to love a program that is focused on getting people to love reading. That’s why it was important for me to meet with the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA), the Big Read coordinators, at the Old Post Office Building. We were able to discuss ways that our Literacy Leaders movement, the NFL and the Big Read could work together. For more information on the Big Read visit http://www.neabigread.org. | The night came to a close with the highlight of the week, the NFL Players Association Gala, featuring the J.B. Awards for Community Service. The J.B. Awards ceremony was a great opportunity for the NFL to recognize their great men. It was an amazing ceremony and a very fun night. I was honored to be selected for one of the awards.
